Very Helpful Guide!

This is my second purchase as I gave my first Merrill's Pocket Guide away as a gift to a co-worker. I have relied heavily on this as a new Radiology Tech. When I am in the clinical setting and have to quickly look up an angle, position, etc... I go to this guide. It's even faster than Googling the information. Highly recommend to students or staff in the Radiology field.

About the Author
Alireza Bahadori, Ph.D., is a research staff member in the School of Environment, Science and Engineering at Southern Cross University, Lismore, NSW, Australia. He received his Ph.D. from Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia.
During the past twenty years, Dr. Bahadori has held various process and petroleum engineering positions and was involved in many large-scale projects at National Iranian Oil Co. (NIOC), Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), and Clough AMEC PTY LTD.
He is the author of 250 articles and 12 books. His books have been published by multiple major publishers, including Elsevier.
Dr. Bahadori is the recipient of the highly competitive and prestigious Australian Government's Endeavor International Postgraduate Research Award as part of his research in oil and gas area. He also received a Top-Up Award from the State Government of Western Australia through Western Australia Energy Research Alliance (WA:ERA) in 2009. Dr. Bahadori serves as a member of the editorial board and reviewer for a large number of journals. He was honored by Elsevier to be an outstanding author of the Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering in 2009.

Unless you are, or intend on being, an environmental engineer, pass this by. The author describes in detail the equipment necessary to operate a waste-water treatment system and how they work, but not in a user friendly style for non-engineers. It is used as the textbook for my college course as part of an environmental concentration in an occupational safety and health masters degree program, so I was not expecting to be thrown in the deep end and study a topic that is very specific to one aspect of environmental requirements. Additionally, the author is fond of using words requiring the use of a dictionary instead of making the explanation of the process simple to follow and understand. Example: using "diurnal" instead of simply saying "daily". There are enough new terms in the book to learn without making the process more "onerous".

Too complicated!! Not a good book for students

Each case study requires too specific knowledge. The content is not very well-organized and it is so confusing. Difficult to understand. You will not get the point of how to do engineering design from this book. Don't recommend.!!! Waste time, waste money!!

Great book for practising engineers

I am a practising mechanical design engineer and I found this book to be of great practical value. It is not only instructional but also is very enjoyable to read. Unless some other design books that cover a lot of theory (which is good for reference) but not very representative of real-world, this one is of immense practical value.

The book is a compilation of case studies from the author's personal experience. The author recognizes how a design engineer is often faced with challenges from a variety of different engineering problems; so the author tries to cover a variety of different design activities and situations that one would face in real world. The topics covered include basic design, costing, detailed engineering design -fits and tolerancing, quality ISO 9000, failure analysis, ergonomics, total design etc. The author provides the background of the project, explains the relevant engineering topic or activity in context to the project and how it can be used to solve the design problem. He keeps the explanation very clear and readable. At the same time he provides enough technical information and calculations whenever necessary. There are also several Illustrations, flowcharts, tables etc to aid in understanding the problem, help in design planning and pointing out to various stardard references. The authors also explores the role of innovation and how it can be used in context of well established standards and principles.

The only complaint I could have is that the author sometimes explains the problem background and gives the relevant knowledge needed to solve the problem and leaves it up to the reader to finish it as a case-study. It would have been very useful to have the complete soultion. However I guess the author wanted to replicate real world scenario and make us think and work so that we get a better understanding of the principle being addressed.

Make no mistake, this guide have strong theory and electrical knowledge material. No calculations or exam questions here but it worth it's pages in gold! Team this book with a good calculations exam prep booklet and you will have the tools you need to pass the exam the first time!

Know it all for one test? Not so simple.

Being a master electrician isn’t a simple job. But when I need to know something, I have the resources to find out the answers. I even have people I can call for advice. As a master electrician, people expect ME to have all the answers and usually I do. When it came time for this test, I knew I would HAVE to know the answers. There would be no stalling around and there would be no one to help me. I was certainly willing to study. In order to make sure I Studied the right stuff, I got this study guide. It was a comprehensive guide made by a test preparation company that obviously did its research in test prep. It was not only affordable, but also effective. IT had all the info I needed in one location so I could study it at my leisure. Though I have to admit, I studied it all in a couple of long sessions. It broke things up so I could have studied it spread out as well. Knowing it all for a test is hard, but at least I had this study guide to help me organize everything I needed in one place.

About the Author
Dianne Sylvan (Austin, TX) has been a practicing Wiccan since the age of sixteen. She is co-founder and President of Blessedways, a Wiccan educational and spiritual organization based out of Central Texas.  Through Blessedways she teaches classes on Wicca, the Runes, spiritual magic, and ecstatic dance.  

In addition to her books, Dianne's work has appeared in Circle Magazine, NewWitch magazine, and the Llewellyn Wicca Almanac and Witches' Calendar; she has also been interviewed by the Wiccan Pagan Times.  More of her articles on living Wiccan spirituality can be found on her website, Dancing Down the Moon.

For every woman who has felt not enough

This book is simply a must have. Even if you are not a pagan you can get many positive input and realizations about how society and the media pray on our insecurities to make us buy more and more stuff. Now if you are a pagan then you can get even more help by reading through this book. The author writes with humor and provides with the necessary tools to get back your inner strength, to regain confidence and to realize that we are unique manifestations of the Divine. We need to stop hating our body and start treat it as it deserves: with respect and love. I found it amusing and deeply helpful.

The most inspirational and snarky 'self-help' book out there.

I absolutely love this book, so much so that I've purchased it not only for myself but for friends and family members also. It's witty and easy to relate to. It's not one of those elitest "get your act together" books that make you all inspired until about 3 chapters in when you realize that you'll never be a size 4, and eat only green foods, and avoid all toxins by not leaving your house without your mask on. ;-)

A good, solid inspirational book about loving you for who you are. And improving yourself because you want to, not because society tells you to.

Love it.

Advance your spiritual practice and body image to boot!

Dianne has an amazing writing style that feels like you are talking to a friend. This book assumes that you have a basic understand of Wicca and perhaps have begun to establish your own practice. Her rituals don't feel rigid and otherworldly; they feel designed so that the practitioner is really working for herself/himself in a very down to earth way. The concepts are applicable to real life and really helped me feel an integration of spiritual practice into my daily life.
