New World Order - A wonderful continuation in the Sunset Rising Series.
By Amazon Customer
New World Order begins where World's Collide leaves off:
(**If you haven't read World's Collide yet, don't read this review**)
At the end of World's Collide, Jack and Sunny have just been attacked by an unknown group of people, Jack is taken and Sunny has learned she is expecting a child. In the midst of this joyous news, she also must combat with her heartache over losing Jack - but we all know Sunny isn't a quitter.
Throughout this book you'll see the journey Sunny takes to find Jack; you'll see the group Jack has found himself kidnapped by; you'll also discover things about other supporting characters that may surprise you.
There were many times my heart beat faster because the action and description of events was phenomenal. I found myself engrossed in the story and the unraveling of events often surprised me (which is an excellent quality to have in a story).
Overall, Susan did a great job with this story and I could tell that she spend a lot of time developing and nurturing the storyline. If you've already read Sunset Rising 1 & 2, adding this to your reading list is absolutely recommended!

Freedom is only the beginning.
By jackwon
What makes the Sunset Rising series so captivating (and my favorite) is that it really is more than "just another YA Dystopia." The author McEachern writes: "even though the tale begins as a dystopian, the series as a whole is about society's journey toward finding utopia in a post apocalyptic world. It's more about the restructuring of civilization to right the wrongs of the past and find a new way of life in moving forward."
Like Harry Potter, SR matures and expands with each book, and "New World Order" is a fantastic, fitting end to the trilogy, as Sunny and Jack fight not just to reunite with each other, but reunite their worlds and peoples in harmony. SR grows beyond the genre tropes of overthrowing the corrupt government and teasing a teen romance, and delves into the creation of a new (but not magically perfect) government and a loving, stable (but by no means boring) marriage.
It has two fully-formed, stellar leads who are smart, brave, and madly in love; gripping suspense and thrilling action; a vivid post-apocalyptic world that is detailed and well-researched (McEachern interviewed one of the Wild Kratts and a National Institute for Nanotechnology researcher!); realistic societies full of diverse (yay!) and three-dimensional characters; and thought-provoking ideas about the meaning of community, utopia, liberty, equality, and justice. What more could you ask for in a sci-fi/action/adventure series?
I absolutely loved the whole SR series, and the ending of NWO brings it all full circle in a most satisfying way. It's a must-read. I can't wait for more stories set in this fascinating, immersive world.

Dis-jointed and Rushed
By Kindle Customer
I liked the first book of this series and absolutely LOVED the second book (that one got a 5 star from me). However, I was very disappointed in this last book. Sunny and Jack's goal for this book/ new world SHOULD HAVE been to form a new government/take over the government if need be. There was plenty of material on the home front to base a great story on- the underground militia, the pit vs. bourge, Leslie, General Powell, the stereotypes and prejudices facing Sunny and Jack... instead, very little of any of this was touched on. Instead, the book's setting was traveling through no man's land in search of Jack who was kidnapped by a villain who ran a whole different territory. Don't get me wrong, I was happy to get to know this sick-o a little and the guys who worked for him. They were sick, sick people. BUT, I felt that this part of the story (which took up at least 3/4 of the book) really deterred from the issues Sunny and Jack should have been facing, and battling, at home. Not to mention that in the last book I would have liked to see the two main characters together more, instead of separated.
The main goal (or what I felt should have been the main goal) didn't come until the last 20 or so pages, when, IN A HUGE RUSH, the government is infiltrated, overthrown, and Leslie is defeated. Sort of.
I kept waiting to see how the territory where Jack had been imprisoned on was going to tie into the main plot and the main world that had been focused on during the whole series. It was never tied in. Not only that, but Jack never did end up getting revenge, which would have at least been cool to see, and we still have no idea if Sunny's baby is a boy or a girl. That just erked me.
I get that this author plans to write more series of this world in the future, series from the POV of different characters, and maybe that's why she opened up new threads in book 3 and left things too loose. However, this was the FINAL book in Sunset's series, so no new threads should have been opened without being concluded.
I felt this book was dis-jointed, the ending was VERY rushed, and, all in all, I was sorely disappointed in the ending of this series that I had such potential in reading. I felt let down as a reader. A series is only as great as each of it's books, ESPECIALLY the ending. I will not read anymore series by this author.
